I didn't watch the political conventions. I heard people talk about them as if they actually followed american politics and were well informed. Once every four years americans watch 1 week of TV and become instantly aware of what would make this country great again. I'm not trying to discourage political discourse, but getting excited for the grandstanding that is our monarchistic crowning of a president is making things worse.
Executive privilege and executive orders have lopsided our system of checks and balance. The indifference that we show towards the daily working of the floor of the House and Senate and the fact that only commonly known Supreme Court case is Roe v. Wade have allowed the scales to tip.
I'm not a model citizen. I only pay attention to the topics that I'm passionate about. What I'd like is that if you aren't going to pay as much attention to local politics and legislative actions as the Presidential race -- than don't pay any attention -- don't give a couple power hungry unaccountable men (and woman) even more power.
