SheZoom, an online video site focusing on professional and user-gen content for women, has raised a $2 million first round, the company tells us. The backing was provided by several unidentified private investors. The company is based in New York and was founded last year by CEO Stacey Artandi, who has held executive positions at The Food Network, The Tribune Company, InfoSeek, There.com and others, including heading the digital properties for American Lawyer Media. The site launched last week.
The site’s programming is divided into channels for relationships, food, mind/body, money, tech, as well as beauty/fashion and entertainment. “Those confines make sharing videos or watching them, more palatable then a site that offers an uncategorized, free-for-all,” Artandi said, in a brief interview. The company has signed up several “experts” in those areas to produce video commentaries.
